STRONG TRACK: THE LAST FRONTIER OF FITNESS
STRONG-TRACK: obstacles for O.C.R. courses Spartan, Mudder, Tough equipmen
Obstacle Course Racing (OCR) is an emerging sport in which a competitor, running or walking on foot, must overcome various obstacles that require a specific physical effort. The races contain various types of obstacles that are similar to those used in military training. The races vary in distance and difficulty, often combining trail running, road running and cross country running. They are usually held at sports centers, ski resorts, green areas and urban parks. OCRs or Mud Runs originated in 1987 . By 2010, the big races that now become known as Spartan Race, Tough, Mudder and Rat Race began to appear. The discipline has its roots in military circuits. However, modern OCRs were not born until 1987 with the historic “Tough Guy” in Wolverhampton, England. Since then they have been imported first from the United States and then welcomed worldwide with a boom in participants soon aiming to exceed 20 million annually.
Obstacle Course Racing and Spartan races in Italy:
In Italy, we are also seeing an exponential increase in the number of organized events, particularly half-marathons with obstacles. The first OCRs or Mud Runs are organized in 2014, including FisherMan Strong Run, Warrior Dash, and Inferno Run. In 2015, the number of races grows significantly, from 18 to more than 30. Since 2016, the F.I.O.C.R. Federazione Italiana Obstacle Course Races has been operating in Italy to represent, regulate and promote the national sports movement of Obstacle Course Races (obstacle races), respecting the values of the Olympic spirit, health and personal growth through the culture and practice of sports. The Italian Obstacle Course Race Championship is the official competitive circuit of OCR races and is recognized by the Italian OCR Federation.
Not just competition:
The rapid expansion and popularity of this sporting activity has created the conditions for the birth of associations and groups of enthusiasts who come together to practice and teach the techniques of the discipline. In recent years, therefore, the demand has arisen for stable equipped OCR courses that allow practice, in safety, for those who wish to train and prepare for competitions, or for those who wish to train their bodies and minds.
